A circular porcelain Maoist box decorated with Cultural Revolution transfer prints of paramount leader Mao Zedong and Lin Biao, his then second-in-command and designated successor but who died in a plane crash in September 1971 in Mongolia after the discovery of a plot to remove Mao; he was posthumously condemned as a traitor. Beneath the image of the pair on the lid it reads 'Chairman Mao and his close comrade Lin Biao inspect the army of the Cultural Revolution'.
