Late 18th century 18ct yellow & silver twin portrait ring, twin hand-painted oval miniature portraits in a diamond, ruby and sapphire setting. Crown and heart design ring. The band, back of setting, and settings for the rubies, sapphire and portraits in gold, the rose cut diamonds set in silver. Portraits of Marie Antoinette and her sister (one image as inspected). 30 diamonds, 11 rubies and 5 sapphires, size 'L' W5.06g (approx.). Provenance: Count Louis de Castelvecchio (1826-1869), Son of King Louis Bonaparte of Holland (Napoleon's brother); thence by direct descent to current owner. Private Collection, ACT (Canberra).
