Chinese Liao Dynasty, (960-1127) stoneware celadon ewer, cover and warmer, the cylindrical cover above a baluster lobed body with loop handle and spout, on a circular foot, height 17 cm and diameter 16 cm (2). Provenance: Purchased between 1938- 1970, the Estate of the late Walter Hochstadter, hence by decent. Many items from the Hochstadter Collection were sold at Christies 18th/19th March 2009, with lot 518 reaching 2 million US dollars. The collection has also been sold in Sotheby's.
