A Kongo Nkisi N'Kondi power figure, Democratic Republic of Congo, this miniature figure is carved from wood. It is a personal fetish that would have been held on the owner's person. Nkisii figures are collaborative pieces; after the artist would have carved the figure it would have been taken to a Nganga priest who would fill the projecting box at the stomach with medicinal materials and covered it with glass.
