German brass and bronze Columbus 'Bilateral' letter scale, German patent Oestp 1766, probably manufactured in Hamburg by Ph. J. Maul, made specifically for the English market as it is marked in ounces and pence (foreign letter Rates) fine the majority of this type from Germany were marked in grams.
