A Bambara mask, Mali. This mask would have been used in initial societies for young men entering adulthood in Bambara society. Carved from a single piece of wood. This mask depicts a smallelongated face with an angular nose. A projecting crest runs from the brow to the back of the head.The holes around the edges of the mask indicated that this mask originally would have been sewn to a costume.
