A Sepik suspension hook, Papua New Guinea, suspension hooks are used to hang foods and valuables in baskets and bags. The hooks are then suspended from the rafters of buildings. This hook is carved from a lightwood and covered in a dark pigment. The figure depicted has a hornbill at each of the shoulders and is standing upon the bodies of two crocodiles.
