A Toma Nyangbai mask, Guinea. This mask would have been used in Poro society ceremonies. It depicts Nyangbai the wife of Landai, a powerful deity.Three horns feature at the top of the wooden mask. The heavy set brow has vertical carved notches as decoration. There is remnants of what would have been a plant material pigment that as coloured the mask black.
