A carved mask, Aitape Region, Papua New Guinea, carved from a single piece of wood, this mask is an oval shape with short medial shafts at the top of the face and the bottom of the chin. The features of the face are carved with sunken relief. The wood is coloured black and red and white pigment as been applied to the facial features. Mounted on a metal stand.
