Description:
A Kalam shield, Simbai area, Mandang Province, Papua New Guinea, collected by missionaries in the 1960's. A large rectangular piece of hard wood with raised relief. The shield has been coloured with a dark brown pigment. There are two holes in the central plane for a strap to pass through for adornment. Height 88.5 cm, width 56 cm, depth 2.5 cm
