Description:
A Sago ceramic pot, Sepik River, Papua New Guinea, used for food preparation and storage. Sago pots are made from rings of soften clay that are moulded together and then pulled upwards creating the thin walls of the ceramic. Later raised relief depicting faces and abstract shapes are added onto the neck region of the pot. White pigment as been applied to the design. Height 33.5 cm, depth 34 cm
