A 19th century taiaha, fine 19th century taiaha with detailed carving to the upoko. The arero of this weapon has been deliberately left undecorated, creating a striking contrast between the detail of the inlaid eyes and simplicity of the tongue. The arero is the stabbing end of the taiaha; an undecorated and robust arero ensured the weapon had maximum strength and efficiency. Presented on custom stand. Length 172 cm.
