A Chinese late Qing Dynasty copper red bottle vase, Yuhuchunping (Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi mark). A magnificent copper red glazed pear shaped vase, known in China as yuhuchunping, the underglaze blue Qianlong mark in conjunction with the liver or sacrificial red, in this instance, identifying it's Imperial association. Note:A few rare mark and period examples exist from the reigns of Qianlong (1736 to 1795), Jiaqing (1796 to 1820),mm, Daoguang (1820 to 1850) and Xianfeng (1850 to 1861). A rare survivor, from the short Xianfeng reign, is illustrated Fig.4 in 'Allen's introduction to later Chinese porcelain'. Without the benefit of the reign mark, it is virtually impossible to distinguish the earliest Qianlong example from one from the Xianfeng reign fifty or more years later; such is the consistency of the potting.
