A Chinese yellow ground famille rose 'Magpie and Prunus', dish (Tongzhi Nian Zhi mark). Brightly enamelled to the interior with numerous magpies in various postures amidst prunus trees and branches, all reserved on a yellow ground, the underside with three detached floral scrolls. The design popularised by the Empress dowager Cixi. 4-character Tongzhi mark in iron red. Height 18 cm, depth 4.2 cm
