An Tibetan Gau (travelling shrine), the lotus petal shaped box in copper with silver front panel. The silver panel chased and engraved with the eight auspicious Buddha symbols. The back panel of the box engraved with the sacred Kalachakra symbol representing the wheel of time. The box interior with a small bronze figure of Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion. The Buddha has been blessed and filled as evidenced by the sealed base. Probably dating from the early 20th century, 10 cm x 8 cm
