A good c1850 Japanese paulownia wood merchant's locking chest, 'Choba-Dansu', with pair of sliding doors above a combination of drawers, three secured by a locking bar, the single cupboard door enclosing three drawers, multiple locks and various metal fittings, complete with three keys. 66 x 34 x 74 cm. Late Edo period.
