Vintage Heuer Camaro first series chronograph gent's wristwatch, rare, Collectable and attractive, with black 3 register dial, Valjoux 72, circa 1969, Manufacturer: Heuer Leonidas, year: circa 1969, reference no.: 7220NT, model: Camaro, material: stainless steel, calibre: valjoux 72, strap: suede sport type, buckle: stainless steel, dimensions: length 37 mm, width 37 mm, signed: case, dial and movement signed, note, the Heuer Camaro Ref. 7220NT was launched in 1968 and was the last series introduced before focus turned to the Chronomatic-powered watches of 1969. The Camaro was never sold with an automatic movement, and with Heuer focused on selling it's new automatic chronograph models, the Camaro slipped out of production in 1972, the Camaro is considered as the most stylish and desirable model of the era. Jack Heuer, a racing afficionado set out to capture the attention of the American consumers with his racing themed models. It was named after the famous Chevrolet Camaro muscle car which was used as the pacecar at the Indianapolis 500 in 1967 and 1969. Further racing themed models represented by later Heuer chronographs include the Carrera, Autavia and Monaco, this is a great example of the first series vintage 3 dial Camaro, with its very desirable and unrestored charcoal dial. The famed Valjoux 72 crown wheel chronograph movement is in first-rate mechanical and cosmetic condition. Unquestionably one of the most important and collectable Heuer vintage watch models.
