Of the 1112 people employed by the bank in July 1914, 508 of those enlisted, 90 were killed in action or died of their wounds, 31 gained distinctions. The book is accompanied by a letter signed by E.H. Wreford, the Chief Manager of the National Bank, presenting the book to Mr C.A. Robin as a memento of his 'service to the Bank and to the King and Empire in the Great War of 1914-1919'.
