Onoto, 9ct gold fountain pen engraved for Hugh Dennis Macrossan (1881–1940), in a fine ribbed finish, with a pen clip and a Delarue Onoto pen nib, engraved H.D. Macrossan 20.2.23, length approximately 148 mm, accompanied by an Onoto fitted box, the present lot is inscribed and dated for the Honourable Hugh Denis Macrossan (1881-1940). Macrossan was admitted as a barrister of the Supreme court of Queensland and commenced practice in Brisbane in 1909. A man of impressive intellect and quick wit, Macrossan was said to have a 'tongue of silver and steel' and was noted for his hard work and speedy judgements. He was elected as a member of the Queensland Parliament, and was later to return to the bar and went on to become a judge and also the chief Justice of Queensland in 1940.
