A rare Chinese silver opium box with repousse design of Liu Hai and the Three-Legged Toad, representing good fortune and prosperity, 19th century, 3.5 cm high, 7.5 cm wide, 4 cm deep, 98 grams. Liu Hai, a popular Chinese God of wealth, was a 10th century Daoist immortal and alchemist traditionally represented with a string of coins and a mythical three-legged chanchu (toad), as well as auspicious symbols of good fortune and prosperity.
