Shield with fire tool markings, Central Desert Region, Northern Territory, carved beanwood and natural pigments (with custom stand) shield of softwood, oval in form with rounded ends and a handle carved from solid form level with surface. It has inwardly curving surfaces. There is continuous incised fluting on both surfaces. It is pigmented. Length 57 x 17 cm. Provenance: Lawson auction, Sydney. Private collection, South Australia
