A rare Tibetan Bhaisajyaraja medicine Buddha Mandala thangka, 18th/19th century, finely painted in mineral pigments on cotton, featuring a central mandala containing two books within the centre, indicating its use in a special healing ritual, the mandala surrounded by deities including Buddha Akshobya, Marichi, Jambhala and Brahma. Blessing in red script to verso, including the Bhaisajyaraja mantra. Mounted in silk (the two inner mounts probably original, the outer blue silk a later replacement), and framed, the thangka 50 cm high, 35.5 cm wide. With frame 107 cm high, 79 cm wide.
