A Chinese gilt bronze lion, Tang Dynasty (618-907), modelled as a standing lion with head slightly to one side, carrying a vase on its back, the vase originally intended to hold an image of Manjushri Bodhisattva. Together with a black fitted stand, the bronze 4.5 cm high, 5 cm wide.
