A Chinese famille rose porcelain Plaque-Inset table screen, attributed to Chen Kai, Republic period (1912-1949), finely painted, depicting Zhou Maoshu being given a lotus blossom by an acolyte, the four character clerical script inscription to the upper right reading 'Mao shu ai lian', followed by 'Written and painted by Chen Kai. Mounted in very fine carved and reticulated table screen decorated with plum blossom, the plaque 39 cm high, 25.5 cm wide. The screen 56.5 cm high, 35.5 cm wide. Provenance: Oriental Treasures, Singapore, 2 December 1982, a private Toorak collection.
