A large and impressive Japanese Edo period carved wood sculpture of Daikoku, the god of earth, agriculture, food, commerce and wealth. Classically represented, standing on two bales of rice with another at his feet, a large treasure sack slung over his shoulder, and holding aloft a magic mallet. Ebonised finish. Signed in characters, height 121 cm.
