A rare Russian silver-gilt 84 cloisonne enamel round box, Dimitry Orlov, circa 1885, of compressed circular form, vericolour overall, the hinged cover and base decorated with a star and central rosette design, bordered with a ring of beads and a band of repeating stylised flowers to the side, hallmarked to the inner rim of cover, 78gms total weight, 2.5 cm high, 6 cm diameter. Provenance: The collection was forged with the vendor's great grandfather, who was a Russian Silversmith in Moscow and immigrated to Italy around 1895. The majority of his collection consisted of pieces he had been gifted or collected from other silversmiths. The collection was passed to the vendor's grandfather who immigrated to Australia in 1923 and hence by descent to the current owner.
