A Russian silver 84 cloisonne enamel scalloped patch box, Ivan Saltikov, circa 1884, of scalloped form, the cover decorated with a large vericolour rosette motif, and two bands of repeating stylized flowers to the side, hallmarks to underside and mouthrim of lid. 47gms total weight, 2.5 cm high, 4.3 cm diameter. Provenance: The collection was forged with the vendor's great grandfather, who was a Russian Silversmith in Moscow and immigrated to Italy around 1895. The majority of his collection consisted of pieces he had been gifted or collected from other silversmiths. The collection was passed to the vendor's grandfather who immigrated to Australia in 1923 and hence by descent to the current owner.
