Charles & Ray Eames 'DCM' set of eight chairs for Herman Miller; the moulded plywood backrest and seat with chrome frame and natural rubber shock mounts, assembled 2000 (label to underside). Height 76 cm, width 50 cm, depth 43 cm. Other Notes: the 1946 Eames Dcm chair is an abbreviation which stands for dining chair on metal base. The chair was originally part of a small series of chairs and tables that were a result of a long-standing collaboration with the Evans plywood Company and which boosted the career of Charles and Ray Eames into notoriety. Herman Miller purchased the manufacturing operation and all licenses in 1949 and since then the Dcm has consistently proved to be so popular that it has remained on the Herman Miller catalogue to this day.
