Description:
A Chinese export silver four piece tea service on tray by Nanking Store, Shanghai, circa 1930, of tapered canted-rectangular form, with conical hinged covers, each decorated with bamboo branches on a stippled ground, the tray 57 cm long, the largest teapot 20.5 cm high, 4020gms total weight of silver. Other Notes: see von Ferscht, Adrien Chinese export silver 1785-1940: catalogue of Makers' marks, 4th edition, Glasgow 2015, p. 502ff (mark illustrated on p. 503) for illustrations of various wares, including a very similar teapot. Nanking Store traded from 444 Szechuen Road, Shanghai from circa 1895 to circa 1940.
