Bill O'Reilly, nice signature on double-sided hand-written card dated 30.8.85. Writes about sitting next to Douglas Jardine at a dinner at the Savoy Hotel hosted by Australian PM Robert Menzies. Menzies said he thought ‘That a vast number of Australians thought that he himself was the greatest ‘Bastard' ever to inflict his country with his presence'. Jardine replied emphatically ‘The Right Hon. Gentleman is misinformed, he may never do better than number two on the list'.
