A rare pair of Chinese Cizhou boy pillows, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) each pillow is decorated with a humoristic face, ruyi pendant, armlet and plaits tied together above the ears; it is thickly covered in a creamy white glaze with an ivory tone; the accessories are covered in a dark brown glaze. 39 cm long. Provenance: The collection of Alexander Popov in Novi Sad, Kingdom of Serbia, acquired between 1900-1920. A copy of an old black and white photo, dating to early 1930s, with the collector's cabinet, and the present two boys within, is accompanying.
