Great Britain: Qv Sea Gallantry Medal (Foreign Services) silver (33 mm), MY68, obv. Queen Victoria facing left 'L.C. Wyon' in truncation, rev. (My Type 4 ) 'For Gallantry and Humanity' surrounding crowned Oak leaf wreath, 'From/The/British /Government' at centre, edge engraved 'C.Tobiasen 2nd September 1887', scrolled suspension bar at top, replacement ribbon, with supporting documentation including a copy of 'Rewards Given By Her Majesty's Government 1887', gEF. C Tobiasen was the carpenter of the crew from the Norwegian Barque Agereon, of Lillesand, Norway. At great risk he assisted in taking off the crew of the Rothbury of Grimsby, at night, in bad weather and high seas. The Barque Agereon deviated her course to land at Falmouth, losing six days sailing.
