New Zealand: Wounded twice at Gallipoli World War I trio awarded to Wallace Furphy, 1914-15 Star, Bwm, Victory, (no original ribbons) impressed '7/46 L/Cpl. W.Furphy. N.Z.E.F.', plus 1967 'The Gallipoli Medallion' impressed 'W Furphy' cased with certificate from Minister of Defence New Zealand Government, with other accompanying material including; 'dog tag' (38 mm) stamped 'N.Z. Mil. Forces /Ge/L.C.P./Furphy/W/CMRREGt/7.46'; postcard from Egypt 'Field Service Post Card' with 'Headquarters/Field/4 Au.15/Post Office/N.Z. Division' cds; 1914 Christmas gift tin, [paid for by the Soldiers and Sailors Christmas Fund organised by Princess Mary and sent for troops on the front lines], in excellent condition with original 'Best Wishes' card '...From The Princess Mary' in original addressed parcel case (damaged) to South Canterbury, NZ; two 'Souvenirs of Palestine' containing PPCs with pressed 'Flowers From The Holy Land' including a 'Customs Declaration' for the PPCs, cancelled with 1914 'Jerusalem' cds; and 1922 Dunedin Returned Soldiers' Association membership card. Wallace (Wally) Furphy, born Rushworth Victoria, enlisted in the Canterbury Mounted Rifles NZ, 12 August 1914, Wounded 9 June 1915 with injury to eye and later shell concussion causing deafness, returned to New Zealand on the Tahiti 10th September 1915, Discharged Medically Unfit 12.4.16.
