A Victorian sterling silver part tea set, maker's mark, William Smiley, London, 1855, comprising a teapot and sugar basin each finely decorated and chased with flower heads and acanthus, the teapot surmounted by a spread winged bird, each engraved 'P. P. F. So' (Port Phillip farmers Society, now Royal Agricultural Society),' 'Prizes to Mr. D. G. Clark for pigs & best collection of poultry, 1860', the teapot 20 cm high, total weight 1330 gms. Provenance: The engraving 'Ppf So' is the acronym for Port Phillip farmers Society, now the Royal Agricultural Society. The show was mentioned in the age, October 6, 1860 and the verbatim quote 'The hens in the first pen were too good for the cock, and the cock in the second pen was too good for the hens. Mr. Dg Clarke took first prize. The bantams....were more numerous, that choice. Mr. Dg Clarke's examples took both prizes'
