Original 1956 Melbourne Olympic Torch. Aluminium alloy flared body, with three sets of reticulated Olympic rings and 'XVI Olympiad 1956: Olympia Melbourne' in relief to circumference. Height 41 cm not including stand. Literature: image supplied, Bert power - Sydney Morning Herald. 1955 promotional photo of V.J. Plummer carrying replica torch. According to sighted documentation, this torch was carried by Mr V. John Plummer in the Sydney leg of the torch relay and gifted to him afterwards by the officials.
