Large Japanese Meiji period figure of Bishamonten and Oni. Negoro lacquered wooden figure of Bishamonten, the God of war, standing atop a subdued crouching Oni. Both with inlaid eyes. Missing Bishamonten's spear from right hand, two fingers missing from left hand. Height 76 cm. Provenance: Luciano Sita collection, Sydney.
