A silver vesta case of New Zealand interest by Adolph Frankau & Co, Birmingham, circa 1879, the oblong body engraved 'Hurunui 14th Augt. 1879', the reverse 'E.W. Ralph' within rectangular cartouches and scrolling surrounds, stamped 'A.F & Co', 5.3 x 3.5 cm. Provenance: The Ruth Simon collection, 2005. Other Notes: the ship, Hurunui was built in 1875 for the New Zealand Shipping Company. It sailed from London on 14th August 1879 and arrived in Lyttelton on 6th December. She was sunk in 1915, of the Isle of Wright by a German Submarine
