A rare sterling silver basket by William Edwards, Melbourne, decorated with a filigree work of birds, grape and vine leaves, with a conforming blue glass liner, marked to base 'Walsh & Sons, Melbourne' with makers mark W.E., retailed by Walsh & Sons, Melbourne, 18 cm high. Other Notes: William Edwards arrived in July 1857 from London. He is listed in the Melbourne directory at 129 Collins Street East in 1859. Exhibited at the international exhibition in 1861.
