A fine Hirado okimono of a Playful puppy, late Edo (1603-1868) or Meiji period (1868-1912), 19th century, delicately modelled as a puppy in refined white porcelain, with exceptionally fine incised fur throughout, the pupils painted with iron spots. Together with the tomobako (original Japanese wooden box) marked Hirado. 11 cm high, 13.5 cm wide
