A rare and primitive Australian chair hewn from a single slab of eucalypt with stick legs, mid 19th century. Most likely central Victorian goldfields origin. Few examples of this type of chair or stool construction survive today. This piece with its unusual lounging posture and the addition of the bushman's antique butterfly restoration to the back make it one of the finest examples seen in our rooms. 94 cm high, 43 cm wide, 130 cm deep
