Description:
A Kiakavo war club, Fiji. Carved from dense, heavy wood into a spurred head and long cylindrical shaft terminating with a pommel. Rough area on the underside of the head with a large fissure. Light brown patina. The range of types and styles of Fijian clubs was exceptionally wide and whether it was a time of war or peace, the Fijian warriors were seldom without it, always alert of potential danger and used as an emblem to glorify their status.
