A Dogon monkey mask, Mali. Masks are worn at dama rituals that are performed to usher the spirits of dead from the vilage. The mask has an ovoid form with hollowed back. The eyes of the mask are small with triangular eye holes. At the head of the mask is a small round form with ears much like an ape. Three vertical ridges run down the face of the mask.
