A Sepik suspension hook, Papua New Guinea. Food and valuables are suspended from the hook in baskets and bags which was then suspended from the rafters of buildings. Carved from wood, the double pronged hook depicts a male figure holding two birds, one bird is a hornbill. Coloured black and white with natural pigments. The figure has cowrie shell eyes.
