A superb Napoleon III ormolu mounted ebony pier cabinet, by Jean-Louis-Benjamin-Gros, circa 1850, the rouge granite plate top above a frieze with acanthus scroll ormolu, inlaid with gilded banding overall, the single door incorporating ebony parquetry applied with patera ormolu and centred with a lyre above an arrangement of festoons and ribbons, above an apron, the side panels also with ebony parquetry. Signed 'Gros Paris' beneath granite plate, 120 cm high, 194 cm wide, 46 cm deep
