An early 19th century black lacquer commemorative snuff box, the lid with an embossed gilt metal plaque depicting a bust of Nelson facing left, undraped, with short hair. Initial 'W' on the truncation. Inscribed: 'HOR. VICECOM. NELSON OB PATRIAM PUGNANDO MORT. OCT XXI MDCCCV' (died fighting for his country). Diameter 8.5 cm.
