18ct gold and diamond necklace, Anina, circa 1960, modelled as a collar comprising of 25 concentric lines of textured round wire decorated at intervals with claw-set brilliant-cut diamonds, the diamonds together weighing approximately 5.50 carats, gross weight 148 grams, inner circumference approximately 360 mm. Provenance: The Estate of the late Patti David, Sydney. Other Notes: Niina Ots (formerly Ratsep, nee Taevere) (1909-2003), was an Estonian-Australian jeweller. A pioneer in modernism, in 1957 she set up a business, Anina with Anna Louise Alma at 21 Rowe Street, Sydney. That same year Darani Lewers (born 1936) apprenticed with Niina, before moving to Copenhagen, Denmark in1958 to train with Helge Larsen. On her return to Sydney, in 1961 Darani and Helge formed a partnership. Anina closed in 1967 and Niina moved to Melbourne where she continued to work.
