A Roman marble portrait head of a woman, Antonine period, circa 140 AD, shown looking directly ahead with broad flat features and prominent cheekbones, the thick lidded eyes under soft arching brows, the inner canthi drilled, a soft, small mouth with lips pressed together above the rounded chin, her centre parted hair pulled back behind her ears continuing in two thick plaits coiled into a chignon, having short loops in front of each ear and a row of shorter hair falling out of the chignon at the back of her neck, height 26.7 cm.
