Rare broad shield, Murray River, New South Wales. Of flatten leaf-like form, flaring rectangular points at each end, pierced twice near the centre with cane handle attached, front with deeply incised, linear, zig-zig and lozenge motifs divided into sections by undecorated bands, the undecorated reverse with roughly hewn marking, restoration to one side, dark shiny patina overall. Carved and engraved hardwood with cane handle. Provenance: Ex Don Robinson Collection, New South Wales. Private Collection, New South Wales. Approx. length 93.5 x 20.5 cm
