An Indian Colonial padouk four post bed, mid 19th century, the head board with a shaped crest rail centred by a shell crest, above a panel of turned spindles, the foot of similar design, rising to brass-capped fluted posts terminating in pricketts to support a canopy (missing), above tapering legs of conforming design with turned rings to the lower section, 190 cm high, 155 cm wide, 231 cm long,. Provenance: Reputably from Leonard Joel, important collection of coaches, carriages, chandeliers, harness, furniture, fittings, etc, from the Palace of his Highness the Maharajah of Mysore, Melbourne, 22 February 1974
