A Seventeenth century Tyrolean violin Austria, 1644, of classic high-arched Tyrolean form with dark varnish. Labelled 'Jacobus Stainer in Absam prope Oenipontum 1644', although most likely from the workshop of his apprentice, Matthias Albani [1621 - 1673]. Length of back, 356 mm; width of back (top),163 mm. Accompanied by a certificate from Leon Petroff (Oct.2019) in which he expresses his opinion of the origin, condition, rarity and value (A$25,000) of the instrument. Provenance, The Jason E.
